Winter

Smiley Creek Lodge is now open for the Winter season. During the winter season we have  Snowmobile rentals daily and provide lodging and home-style food for all of those enjoying the winter wonderland of the Sawtooth area. We are conveniently located to Sun Valley ski resort and the bustling town of Ketchum. We are 40 miles north of Sun Valley/ Ketchum, a 45 min drive away over Galena pass. We are in the heart of the SNRA Sawtooth National Recreation Area, right in the middle of some of the most beautiful country you have ever seen.

Rent a snowmobile for half day visit to Redfish Lake in the winter, visit for the day to explore further, or come for a few days and explore the miles of groomed snowmobile trail beyond Stanley, the beautiful groomed nordic trails at Alturas Lake and Park Creek, the easy backcountry access off the top of Galena Pass or one of the endless opportunities to feel the stillness of the wilderness in winter.

There is a good chance to see wildlife with elk wintering close to the Salmon River.

Wether you are just on a drive for the day or if you are riding the trails or the powder: If you ski off the top of Galena every day or you just want a change of pace from other nordic trails, Smiley Creek Lodge is your headquarters for winter recreation in the Sawtooth Basin.
